A colleague asked me recently: Why the name Tylie Tandem?
I began to reply and realized I didn’t actually have the entire history. But what I came to learn was how important that history was in the concept driving what our platform is today.
Whenever you have a chance to work on a project for a company that has a fifty-year history as a leader in one of the most competitive markets around, your interest is piqued. After meeting with the ownership, I realized there was a certain esprit de corps that I hadn’t experienced in some time: a real feeling for the value that small companies bring to the business landscape. Perhaps more importantly for me, the task of designing a platform that acted as an extension of this storied company’s identity was an interesting problem with many facets and a narrow margin for success, and that really pulled me in. The experience only further fueled our collective team energy to move forward at Tylie Ad Solutions.
We came into the Tylie Tandem project at such an excellent time as AWS was rapidly expanding, and leadership’s appetite to invest was never higher. Most of my career has involved expanding media distribution networks and optimizing the production operations that supply them. But I was in for a bit of a surprise after we met and discussed the strategic roadmap for Tylie. I first realized the concept of Tylie Tandem at that point. We weren’t trying to build another distribution network, but creating a solution that embraces the diversity of our clients; a solution that enables users to engage in meaningful interactions with a platform capable of responding adequately, yet doesn’t force them to make significant accommodations. Serverless and embedded with intelligent queueing, Tylie Tandem is a departure from legacy, one-size-fits-all approaches. We decided to become an open platform designed to connect and integrate where applicable to myriad systems our clients use in their daily routines.

Tylie Tandem is perhaps more about balance than anything else. Yes, we sacrifice some efficiencies by allowing for a wide gate, but this is absorbed within a flexible architecture that leaves users with an experience that supports their more immediate needs. Embracing the idea that we could now shoulder the diversity our clients demands and not worry about breaking our monolith was key to our understanding of how to apply what AWS was offering. We were on our way to becoming cloud-native. It’s exciting to be a part of change and realizing that the true driving force is the expectations and feedback of our clients.
They are consistently challenging us to become better architects, developers and managers. That really inspires me to know that our work is playing a meaningful role in the success of our clients at Tyle Ad Solutions. As we continue to expand the features of Tylie Tandem, I’m reminded often that every turn we make can create additional complexity, but it also opens new avenues where we realize we can do more and address recurring problems under new light.
Perhaps the greatest impact was only to be realized once the COVID pandemic arrived. We were now capable of supporting a fully remote or hybrid workforce. Safeguarding our employees was paramount, and Tylie Tandem enabled those efforts. And as we discovered new ways to work and interact with our clients, more insight was becoming available about how we could expand Tylie Tandem. The desire to offer our clients and their partners an experience that really gave them an improved sense of trust during the pandemic and beyond was never lost.
Tylie Tandem has had a significant impact in our client relationships and even more so within our internal teams. From the initial vision to expand on a fifty-year history of excellent customer service with a robust, contemporary media management platform, Tylie Tandem came to represent who we are as a company, who we are as members of our community and how our role as a Woman-owned small business can be a catalyst for other entrepreneurs like Tylie Jones, who saw a client need and committed to building a business that fulfills them.
